Hi, I’m Eva

Navigating Wellness with Eva

Beginning in the 1980s as a physiotherapist and rehabilitation consultant, I discovered the transformative power of ‘wellness’, long before I even knew it was a word. I worked as a rehabilitation consultant with injured workers, as a physiotherapist  preventing injuries in factories and ran chronic pain management groups for the long term injured.  These experience ignited my passion for helping others through wellness and led me into the world of health education, healthcare design and wellness coaching.

With personal experiences in overcoming chronic pain and health challenges through a lifestyle approach, I’ve spent the last 15 years practicing and teaching wellness coaching. I also developed a pioneering university Wellness Coaching course at RMIT University in 2010. i have been running the Well Habit social enterprise for the past 8 years and have developed tools, strategies and written activity books that support peoples journey to wellness without a coach.

A key area of expertise in my health and wellness coaching is helping those dealing with the complexities of multiple illnesses and corresponding multiple medications. I advocate for finding doctors who support safe de-prescribing and integrating natural, lifestyle-based approaches to health together with a healthy empowered mindset.

Through my diverse background in health education, environmental science, filmmaking, and community radio, I bring a unique perspective to wellness. My goal is to guide clients in crafting a balanced, healthy life, emphasizing personalized care and sustainable wellness habits.

Managing Autoimmune Disease

Autoimmune diseases are unique and complex, varying greatly from person to person. In our sessions, I focus on creating a personalized strategy that is supporting you in your specific needs.

Building Knowledge and Skills: We’ll work together to enhance your understanding of lifestyle changes that can help reduce inflammation and alleviate symptoms. This involves learning about and addressing potential environmental triggers and dietary intolerances that may be affecting your health.

Dietary Adjustments for Better Health: A key part of our approach is experimenting with an anti-inflammatory diet. This may include cutting out processed foods, gluten, dairy, nightshades, or lectins to see what positively impacts your symptoms.

Setting Realistic Goals: To ensure lasting change, we’ll employ a strategy I call “SMART-ASS” goal setting. This approach helps us define clear, measurable, and achievable goals. We focus on small, manageable steps to make these changes not just possible, but also appealing and sustainable for you.

With this personalized approach, we aim to empower you with the tools and strategies you need to effectively manage your autoimmune condition. Let’s work together to create a healthier and more comfortable life for you.

  • Anxiety and Inflammation Management: Together, we’ll develop strategies to manage anxiety and address inflammation, which are common during this period.
  • Dealing with Depression: Drawing on my personal experience, I offer support and techniques to manage symptoms of depression.

Learning to Balance the Imbalance: The key is to learn about the various options available for managing these changes. With the right knowledge and strategies, it’s possible to find balance amidst the imbalance of this life stage.

Feedback from My Clients

JANE (Chronic pain and auto-immune disease)

“I suffer from an auto immune disorder, which caused me great suffering and restricted my movement. I was forced to leave my work, and could barley walk for an 8 month period. It was a hard and depressing time. Doing the wellness coaching program (with Eva) helped me think clearer and not catastrophise situations. Also very helpful dietary advice, I am now practicing a low inflammatory diet; and it is working really well on most of my joints. I use to have a fear of walking on the street, now I walk most every morning and have lost a fair bit of weight and counting. over all, I am a more confident stronger person. So thank you for the helping hand.”

FRED (Chronic Back Pain)

“For someone like me (53 yr old male) who was used to always solving his own problems, and never admitting to needing help, my biggest step was accepting that helping hand and I’m glad I did. Eva Migdal from the first contact we made until the last, offered nothing but unconditional support, professional advice that really helped me in so many ways and given in such a positive way that you couldn’t help but feel better after talking to her. Being ill longterm can be a real challenge both physically and mentally and I definately have my highs and lows but thanks to Eva Migdal and her positive outlook on life I now have light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks Eva.”

LISA

“My journey through wellness coaching was the most beneficial programs I have participated in as part of my rehab program. There are many aspects of this program that have been life changing for myself, I have gained more confidence, learnt how to manage and accept physical pain, I have a much better outlook on life and a greater understanding of how to deal with any problems that arise in day to day life- I know when a problem (or person) warrants my stress. My coach quickly learnt how my mind works and worked in sync with me, not once did i feel like this was a textbook program, everything was altered to suit me and what i needed. For anyone thinking about joining this wellness coaching program, it is genuinely a life changing experience- i still look back at what i learnt when i feel i need to refresh my mind.”

SARAH

“I have had the immense privilege to get to know Eva Migdal over the past year and understand a little more about the quiet revolutionary that she is. Not in the aggressive sense but rather a calm, yet immensely enthusiastic and visionary way. Eva is a catalyst, a connecter, a seed-planter and nurturer of great ideas and creations. She is deeply caring, generous, engaged, joyful, positive, open, spiritual and a strong advocate for well-being, mindfulness, community and social ventures. A wonderful facilitator and meditation leader, she holds the space with deep presence and compassion.

Eva Migdal is a unique gift to the world and I have no hesitation recommending her whole-heartedly.”

ANGIE

“My wellbeing coach was so understanding and helpful I could not recommend her highly enough. This wellness coaching course provided me with so much invaluable and essential information, I also learnt alot myself and my habits. I feel healthier both mentally and physically and it has improved my outlook on the future tenfold. It has given me back my confidence, my sense of purpose and taught me the necessary tools and strategies I needed to cope, improve myself and move forward with my life and for that I could not recommend it more.”

DANI

“I have been on the wellness coaching program for 6 weeks. I have to say I love it. Eva has made me look at things differently. She makes me more aware, of why my pain is worse and how not to make it not get any worse, and she is always in the back of my mind while doing housework, eating, sleeping, writing things down. Just by talking to her has made the difference and the little things she says to me. I think why couldn’t I think of that it’s so simple. As I read the activity book I have a pen in my hand, I circle things and in my head I go that’s me. The book has great lots of helpful things. And for me by reading the book I know I’m not loosing my mind (lol) as pain makes me forget so much. So I highly recommended this program.”

Eva Migdal

“Talking to someone like you makes me more conscious of everything”

Step 1: Get to Know Yourself

If we want to go somewhere, we need to know where we are, and to where we are going. So the first step in your coaching journey is to know where you are. The Well Habit Quiz is a simple tool for you to gain insight into where you are on a range of 25 wellness skills.

Take the quiz and see what comes up for you. Consider your strengths and your challenges. Are there some areas you may want to start making small changes to start on  your wellness journey. There are more extensive versions of this quiz in our activity books.

Step 2: Effective Online Coaching

I am available for coaching online via video or phone. Evidence has shown that  the online coaching or telephone coaching is at least as effective as face to face coaching. I have been working in this way for the past 5 years with a leading Australian life insurance company dedicated to bringing best practice coaching to their injured and chronically ill clients. There are several advantages such as:

1. Feel more comfortable speaking from your own home or work place

2. Avoid the obstacles of travel if there are time constraints, distance, illness or disability.

3. It can also allow more trust and openness, by avoiding the self consciousness that sometimes emerge in face to face meetings

Step 3: Get Ongoing Support

There are many ways to be supported beyond individual coaching. Peer to peer support is an excellent way to accelerate the process of wellness.  By becoming connected to others facing similar challenges, you learn from others, you learn about the different ways people approach things, resources are shared and through open dialogue problems solved. Learning to listen well, to share with an open heart and to become connected to a community is not just great for your wellness, it is a skill for a greater life.
