I am curious but unlikely to make any big changes. Is this a waste of your and my time?

The great part of coaching is that you guide me as to where you want to go and where you do not. You know yourself better than I do! Often a first tiny step towards change builds your confidence towards the next tiny step. It is hard to imagine your motivation to move forward before you have experienced those first steps. What is the difference between life coaching and health & wellness coaching?

iA life coach is a person trained in the skills of coaching, who can help you map a vision for your future in the areas of your life you wish and then set goals towards this vision. This may be all you are wanting from a coach. However if you are struggling with health issues in

A health coach is usually a health trained professional who can help you make more significant changes in your health choices.  Identifying what your health, wellness and overall life goals are. What are the obstacles to improving your health. Creating a road map for your journey away from illness, considering if you are on medications if there is a need for deprescribing, what changes to your lifestyle would take you to where you want to go. 

How can a health and wellness coach support my mental health in ways that are different to a therapist.

As a wellness coach you can be guided towards the evidence based lifestyle and cognitive habits that can lessen or reverse depression. The lifestyle habits include sleep strategies, regular exercise, reduce ultra processed foods, increase anti-inflammatory nutrients such as omega 3 fatty acids. The cognitive anti-depressant habits include anti-rumination strategies, boundary setting skills, assertiveness skills as well as joining communities to avoid isolation. 

How many sessions before I will see change?

Some people quickly discover a simple targeted goal where they only need a bit of a kickstart. Others come with more complex issues such as chronic pain, autoimmune disease, cognitive decline, so more time is needed. I often start with meeting once a week and then swap to once a month to ensure change sticks.
